Andalus.org is community portal for Muslims in South London to be informed about prayer times, events and activities taking place in the local mosques and community. The portal is free to use, is intended to be ad-free (finances allowing!) and run with the support of the local community.
We felt there should be an easier way of informing and being informed of what's going on for Muslims in the local community.
Andalus is not-for-profit organisation serving the muslim community of South London.
The Directors of Andalus.org are:
- Dr. Abdul Fatah | Trustee of al-Muntada al-Islami
- Abbas Choudry | Trustee of Battersea Mosque
- Naeem Darr | Director of Muslim Directory
The portal is maintained by volunteers.
al-Andalus was the Islamic State that endured for over 700 years in Spain. At her height she represented much of what is best in Islam. Learning, tolerance, diversity and a legacy of knowledge that gave birth to the European Renaissance.
For Muslims in 21st Century Britain Andalus has left a worthy heritage of aspirational Islamic virtues and values.
Having said that (and not said a lot more besides) about al-Andalus, this isn't a retrospective on long past glories. Rather the intention of Andalus is to reflect South London today and insha'allah help Muslims lead a better life in our frenetic super village.
